Tosca, born in 2006, is a quarter horse mare who has been with us since 2016. She is quickly learning her job. She doesn’t always understand what you want but once she does, you can see and feel her relax. She tries very hard to please and just loves all of the attention her riders give her.
MTRC's 2019 Horse of the Year
Kayro is a Polish Arabian mare that has been with our program since 2007. She was born in 1986—yep, you read that right! She may be well into her third decade, but don’t let that fool you into thinking she's old. Kayro regularly acts half her age and just loves her job. If she doesn’t work every day, she starts to bang on her door as if to remind us that she is ready to go to work. Kayro is steady, patient and kind, and she LOVES little kids.
Coco was born in 2009 and is a North Dakota bred Quarter Horse mare. She has been working in the therapeutic riding program since spring 2019 and loves, loves, LOVES her job. She is calm and sweet-natured, very intelligent, and absolutely adores all people (but especially little people).
This handsome gelding seamlessly joined our program in the fall of 2017. Masterpiece, or MP as we call him, is an Arabian horse who was born in 1991. In his past life he was a pleasure and show horse which is no surprise given his beauty. Masterpiece has more energy than his age would indicate and loves nothing more than a good canter. But he is always slow and gentle when he needs to be. He thrives on the activity around the barn and takes his job very seriously.
Fabulous Fabio has been a member of our family since 2015. He came to us with years of therapeutic riding experience and has helped countless riders in our program learn to ride and to trust. Fabio is always calm and patient. He is a big strong boy who loves everyone. He is thought to have been born around 1995 but he doesn’t share his exact age with anyone.
Stuart is our resident clown, trick horse and independent soul. He is an American Paint Horse born in 2002, who has been with our program for ten years. He is mostly used for our stronger riders. He loves attention and has been known to smile at people walking by his stall.
Sammy is a Belgian Draft horse. We don't know much about her background other than she was rescued from an slaughter auction in 2017. We estimate her age between 11 and 14. We are all drawn by her intelligence, patience, and sweet nature. Sammy is a very gentle giant who will follow people she trusts forever. We are currently working on refining her training so that she can become a valued member of our herd as a lead line or an independent horse.
Magpie, or Maggie as she likes to be called, is the newest member of our herd, who joined the Miracles family in December 2019. Maggie came from a local rescue called Drifter's Hearts of Hope, and began her training as a therapy horse at CSU. Maggie is calm, curious, and incredibly sweet, and although she's still figuring out this whole riding thing, she is well on her way to becoming a star member of our team here at Miracles.
